The correspondence, mostly falling between 1916-1971, but excluding the years 1929-1930 and 1934-1943, is of a predominantly routine professional nature and discusses sales and exhibitions as well as Bergmann-Michel's two short documentary film projects "Wo wohnen alte Leute", 1931, and "Alle muessen helfen" ("Erwerbslose kochen fuer Erwerbslose"), 1932. Among the correspondents are: Herwarth Walden and Der Sturm, Karl Nierendorf, Otto Ernst Sutter, Walter Gropius, Joris Ivens, Julius Bissier, Piet and Nel Zwart, Hans Hildebrandt, Carl Buchheister, Karl Otto Goetz, Herta Wescher, Albert Renger-Patzsch, Käthe Steinitz, Willi Baumeister, Hannes Meyer, and others. Manuscript writings by Ella Bergmann-Michel and Robert Michel detail various projects and the work of the association "Das neue Frankfurt." The collection further includes a prospectus for the documentary "Alle muessen helfen" and an annotated copy of the film script of "Wo wohnen alte Leute." With a two page proof of a woodcut pamphlet, miscellaneous personal papers, printed material (mostly press clippings relating to the two documentaries by Ella Bergmann-Michel), and 4 photographs of Robert Michel and his work.
